Spencer is back home and presenting a good front, but Aria, Hanna and Emily are not so sure their friend is fully back after seeing how fragile she was just a day or so before. Unfortunately the girls don’t have much time to ponder Spencer’s health as shocking revelations are brought to the forefront. With so much happening and new information being uncovered, will the Liars be ready for what is waiting for them?
Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer have been the target of “A’s” games for awhile, leaving them emotionally cut off from their families and friends. But when a surprising new victim of “A” is revealed, the PLLs tight-knit group may just get one person larger. But what is “A’s” motive of targeting someone outside of Alison’s group of besties?
Meanwhile, Spencer runs from her family troubles right into Wren’s arms, as Ezra’s new opportunity could push him away from Aria.
The Liars try to prove that Alison was involved in Mona’s death; Aria worries about her future.
“A” targets the girls once again as they attend an upscale camping trip for one of their friend’s birthday party and they fear that “A” may want to crash the fun. The FBI becomes involved in Alison’s murder case because of new evidence that they have found. Also, Ashley faces difficulties because of her financial situation.
In order to prove Sara Harvey is behind the threats, Team Sparia reunites to find evidence of Sara’s involvement before they go to the cops. Caleb puts together a plan with Hanna to fight back against the new stalker by using the security footage tapes.
Meanwhile, Aria gets unexpected news from her family, and Ali comforts Emily in her time of need.
Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer have made a crucial mistake – they told someone about “A” and now they must pay the price. With the clock ticking and “A” calling the shots, the girls are sent on missions to do “A’s” bidding in order to save their trusted confidant. Each mission will ultimately lead to what the four liars want the most, but at a costly price to their loved ones and themselves. Can Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer go through with their given tasks in order to save one, or will they ignore “A” to save those around them from being hurt? And ultimately, will this matter when all is said and done? Nothing is ever as it seems in Rosewood, PA.
After much planning, the day of Alison’s memorial is around the corner and the girls are ready to say their goodbyes. But when Alison’s brother Jason arrives, Spencer, Aria, Hanna and Emily quickly learn that saying goodbye is at the bottom of his list. As Jason takes over, and Detective Wilden returns, will the girls be able to celebrate Alison’s life in the peaceful and positive way they were hoping for? Meanwhile, Hanna is forced to deal with a situation at home that could really cramp her “it girl” status.
The truth can sometimes hurt and the Liars must take that into account when deciding to reveal secrets. Hanna’s visits with Mona are driving a wedge between Hanna and Caleb. But would it be so bad if Hanna told Caleb that she needed to see Mona to get information about this “A?” Aria, on the other hand, is dreading telling Ella that Byron is back in the dating scene and dating Meredith. But wouldn’t it be better if Ella found out from Aria than hearing it someplace else? And Spencer needs to know the truth about Melissa, even if the truth hurts.
Meanwhile, Emily finds some solace after meeting Maya’s cousin, Nathan.
Emily, Hanna and Spencer are concerned for Aria as they watch their friend crumble after learning shocking news about Ezra. Not knowing what is true or what to trust, Aria goes looking for answers, not wanting to believe this revelation to be true. While concerned for Aria, Spencer is not doing so well herself. Trying to prove to her parents and Toby that she can kick the habit on her own, Spencer has to be careful because one misstep could send her to rehab. But can Spencer really rein it in, or will her constant curiosity and drive be her undoing? Meanwhile, Paige has had enough with Emily’s secrets and is determined to stop it.
Testimony at Alison’s trial reveals a plethora of lies; Spencer, Aria, Emily, and Caleb follow a string of clues in hope of uncovering information that will clear Hanna.
Now that Ali’s remains are back with her family, the DiLaurentis’ are set to bury her again, giving Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer another opportunity to say goodbye to their friend. With everything that has gone on since Ali’s disappearance, the girls are divided about going to yet another memorial. Aria, Hanna and Emily are ready for another round of goodbye, if not for them but to also support Jason. Spencer, on the other hand, has had enough and wants nothing to do with the burial. Why keep saying farewell to a girl who wasn’t that great of a friend after all? Meanwhile, Emily goes to visit Dr. Sullivan to help with her unresolved feelings about killing Nate, but comes away with much more than expected.
There are mixed emotions in the DiLaurentis household when Charles declares he is coming home for his birthday. Mr. DiLaurentis wants to quickly get out of town to hide Ali and Jason from their brother, while Jason sees this as an opportunity to finally validate all of the early childhood memories he has of “Charlie.” The PLLs are just as split with Spencer and Hanna seeing this as the best chance they have to capture Charles, while Emily and Aria want to stay as far from him as possible. Will Jason be reunited with his brother, or is this just another of “A’s” traps?
Meanwhile, Mona is shutting Mike out and Hanna gets an unwelcomed surprise.
As their doubts, fears and suspicions grow, Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer start to wonder what the true face of evil looks like. Is it the girl who holds a grudge and will do anything to keep her loved ones near? Is it the new brother-in-law who might have a darker side beneath the surface? Or is it an unknown stranger who is playing puppet master with four girls’ lives? Only time will tell who the Bad Seed is. Meanwhile, Aria sees the school play as an opportunity to get closer to Ezra. But will her plan backfire and put her relationship in jeopardy?
With the stalker threatening to kill all of them if they don’t divulge Charlotte’s killer by the election, the PLLs and company, at wit’s end, must boldly fight back. As Spencer and Toby work together to catch Sara Harvey, Yvonne wonders where Toby’s true affections lie. Ezra finishes the last chapter of his book, finally ready to say goodbye to Nicole; Aria comforts him during this emotional time and old feelings bubble to the surface. While Caleb works intently on his plan to protect Hanna, they reflect on what could have been.
Meanwhile, Alison experiences strange visions and starts to question her sanity; Emily keeps tabs on her to make sure she’s okay.
The prosecution calls a surprise witness in Alison’s trial; the girls hunt for last-minute evidence.
Emily takes up the sleuthing reins as she searches for answers about Ezra and Mona. After confronting both, Emily tries to make sense of the heartbreaking situation. Hanna, on the other hand, begins a new search after being confronted by Det. Holbrook and Lt. Tanner with a possible new lead in Alison’s case.Meanwhile, Spencer and Aria lean on new men in their lives to recover.
Aria is down for the count when sidelined by the flu, so Hanna and Emily are on their own to follow up on a new clue. Surprisingly, Meredith steps up to help take care of Aria while her father is away, but when it starts to look like Meredith may have ulterior motives to her nursing Aria back to health, Hanna and Emily turn their attention towards saving their friend. Is Meredith just trying to start anew with Aria and be her number one fan, or is there reason for her friends to be concerned? Meanwhile, Spencer takes a break from all the sleuthing to surprise Toby for their anniversary.
The girls try to resume a sense of normalcy in their lives, but even the simple tasks of dating and extra-circular activities meet with strife. Emily must deal with a jealous teammate who is threatened by Emily’s return to the pool, as Aria and Ezra plan their first date out in the open. And Hanna is still stuck playing “A’s” game, but the next hurdle might just have complications for another Liar. With “A” pulling the strings and making matters worse, will the girls be able to weather the storm and lie their way out of it, or will they have to face the ugly truths? Meanwhile, Spencer turns to Ali’s brother, Jason, for information about the night they believe Alison died, only to have to face part of her unpleasant past with Ali.
As the school gets ready for the dance-a-thon, Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer have more on their minds than raising money for the school trip to Washington, DC. Hanna is having a hard time finding a job to help her family’s financial situation, but when “A” has a job for her, will Hanna be able to refuse? Emily can only think of Maya and is desperate to speak to her — so much so that she enlists the help of Caleb, the new bad boy in the school. And as an important piece of property goes missing, Spencer finds being in close quarters with her new brother-in-law, Ian, more difficult than ever. Meanwhile, Aria’s former babysitter, Simone, comes back to town for a surprise visit. But what should be a happy reunion quickly becomes a nightmare for Aria when Simone sets her sights on Ezra.
Hanna worries that her mother is keeping a dangerous secret and is determined to protect her at all costs, which leads her to an uncomfortable meeting with Detective Holbrook. A clue in Ali’s things leads the Liars to a creepy mask maker, who takes a shine to Emily and may have ties to another Rosewood resident. Spencer and Toby continue their search into a painful chapter of Toby’s past and Melissa returns to Rosewood. Meanwhile, A targets Emily’s mom, leading Aria to make a desperate plea of Ella.
