Technically amazing but still somehow pales in comparison to the original. You can’t sympathise with these characters, they don’t seem to have any emotion. Plus the songs are bad 🚮

Doctor Who: Planet of Evil, 1975 – ★½
This was really boring and the plot was nonsense!

The Zygons are a really interesting race, let down by terrible plot and the Loch Ness Monster. I’m glad they came back for the 50th anniversary and the 12th Doctor 2-parter because they were much better utilised there!
Oh and 3 times they leave Sarah Jane on her own to get kidnapped!
Very disappointing!

Frozen II, 2019 – ★★★½

Too short, not enough happens. It’s mostly just running away from a big robot and South Africans.
Now this is more like it! A very good episode, especially when you realise this was made before “Alien”. However the alien design was a bit rubbish and Sarah Jane was underused.
Doctor Who: Robot, 1975 – ★★★
“There’s no point in being grown up if you can’t be childish sometimes” - The Doctor
Tom Baker is a delight. The story is a bit rubbish though and the effects are unintentionally hilarious.
What a mess! But a fitting end to Pertwee’s era - my least favourite Doctor so far in this massive marathon of Doctor Who.
Awful, slow, boring!
Dull, slow, bloated with ideas and terribly executed. This one stinks!
Ok so the special effects are terrible, the plot is as mad as a hatter and the Brig *still* has trouble believing the Doctor despite all he’s seen, yet this was one of the most interesting, twisty and exciting serial I’ve seen yet. Sarah-Jane is an excellent companion!

Now this was a very good story - my only complaints are that Cliff is very rude to Jo, and the link between the maggots and BOSS is rather tenuous. But overall a great one!

Looking: The Movie, 2016 – ★★★★★
This review may contain spoilers.
It’s not a standalone movie. Think of it more as “season 3” compressed into one package.
As the season finale this was almost perfect. I may not agree with what happened in the end, but it was the right thing for Patrick.
The scene with Kevin made me sob. I watched it again afterwards and it had the same effect. It’s so moving!

It would have worked better as a musical instead of having basically only King Louie burst into song.
Hamilton, 2020 – ★★★★★
This was incredible. Almost as good as seeing it live (I saw it in London), the original cast are spectacular. I will probably watch it a dozen more times!
Zootopia, 2016 – ★★★★

Oh dear the only women are basically to lust over, there are no PoC I don’t think, and Frodo and Sam should just kiss already. Gollum steals the show.
An amazing film, obviously, but it pains me that there are so few women and I don’t think any PoC in this film.

I watched the Special Edition, which had some really good effects. The story was good, very Terminator and timey-wimey. Daleks were a bit of an afterthought though and it all ended rather abruptly. One of the best of the third doctor so far.

The Master comes along and turns what could have been an interesting story (First time the third Doctor visits another planet, interstellar politics) into a retread of all Master stories, and then they blow up a whole alien city and no-one cares. What?!
The Ring, 2002 – ★★★★★
Probably my favourite horror movie!

The worst Third Doctor episode so far. The monster was stupid, the Master was ineffectual and the Doctor was unkind.

Yes it’s an historic episode in that it first introduces us to The Master (although it would have been great if this was the same person as The War Chief in The Wargames), but there are a few issues with the story, the effects (green screening for a kitchen scene seemed strange), and some of the monsters (the ugly doll, killer inflatable chair & daffodils are rather strange choices). But it was very funny (although probably unintentionally) and we enjoyed watching it!
I miss Liz!

I’m really enjoying watching the Third Doctor’s stories, after seeing all episodes in order so far, as the script, direction, and action is miles better than anything that came before it.
But some of these serials are just a few episodes too long, including this one. So much is repeated to drag the story on!
And the werewolf things are never explained!
The build up in the first few episodes is great and I was expecting something brilliant but it all just started to slow down and the end was a bit of an anticlimax!

Ok so *this* was the Classic Who content I’ve been waiting for.
It had everything: Time Lords! The Master (I think??), companion exits, regeneration (ish?), mystery, intrigue, action, adventure!
If it was maybe a couple episodes shorter it would have had a near perfect score.
So glad I decided to watch all of Classic Who in order, it’s been tough but so worth it for this!
